Exclusive Complex Bore Design

The bore design of the new Bliss clarinet is the result of nearly 18 months of acoustic work and play testing. It offers the growing clarinetist a clarinet that is incredibly responsive and easier to blow while still providing the well centered and even tone required by Julian Bliss.

Hi-Tech Composite Body

The proprietary material used for the Bliss clarinet body represents the pinnacle of modern composite technology and it was chosen for Bliss for several reasons. Stable enough to withstand temperatures of -120ºC while its pistol handle grade durability makes our composite resistant to every bump and fall associated with a typical day of hard playing. Also, based on acoustic testing, the material used for the Bliss bodies produced a sound that was more full and most closely resembled the grenadilla wood found on artist level clarinets.

Backun Designed Composite Low Profile Barrel

The only Backun designed composite barrel gives the Bliss clarinet the advantage of amazing tonal focus, superior intonation and a more characteristic sound than the average affordable clarinet. Backun Designed Composite Low Profile Bell The Bliss features the only Backun designed composite bell. This bell gives the low clarinet notes more resonance and stronger intonation.

Ringless Design

The ringless design of the Bliss not only offers a sleek look but also lowers the overall weight of the clarinet making it easier to handle for young players. Also, by removing the rings, we have allowed for freer vibration of the body making for a more vibrant sound.

Over - and Undercut Toneholes

The Leblanc Bliss is the only composite clarinet to offer finger chimneys that are both under and overcut. The unique tone hole shape offered by the overcut guides the finger into the tone hole making fingering easier and more secure while both cuts provide more secure and consistent tuning.

Adjustable Thumbrest w/ Neck Strap Ring

The expertly designed Bliss thumbrest offers variable thumb positions to ensure optimal hand position, no matter the size of the hand. For those needing a little extra help, we've added a neck strap ring that will fit most standard neck straps. Black Nickel Plated Keys Not only does the black nickel of the Bliss give this clarinet a look like no other, the added weight of the material actually will help darken the overall clarinet sound.

High Chrome Nickel Silver Keys

Higher chrome content found in Bliss keys makes them more rigid so they respond quicker and hold up well under the most grueling use.

Threaded Posts

The threaded posts found on a Bliss clarinet make for more durable key-work. This means more time playing and less time repairing.

Low E Reinforcement Bar

The low E reinforcement bar, found only on the Bliss clarinet, helps to stabilize the long, lower keys when assembling and disassembling the clarinet.

Adjusters on Crow Foot, Left F/C and Over-arm FC

The Bliss is the only affordable clarinet that features key adjusters. These make playing over the break easier and more secure by keeping the long keys in adjustment and removing lost motion.

Hard Rubber Mouthpiece

A hard rubber mouthpiece like that found in the Bliss clarinet is the choice of more professionals. It offers greater focus, better intonation and a much more mature sound.
